Choosing a tripod can be tricky. There are so many to choose from. Here’s one sure way to get it right: ask a Vistek sales rep.

Although tripods are all designed to perform a similar function, they can vary dramatically, from materials, to features, to cost..

Photographers will sometimes purchase a tripod without giving it much thought. And yet, after the acquisition of a camera and lenses, the tripod is arguably the most important – certainly the most used – piece of equipment in a photographer’s kit.

Tripods are manufactured using one or a combination of the following materials:

  • Carbon-fibre
  • Aluminum
  • Magnesium
  • Basalt

Vistek carries a wide range of tripods from a variety of manufacturers, including Benro, MeFoto, Induro, Manfrotto, and Gitzo, All are good. Some are better. Several are excellent. Ask one of our sales reps. He or she will help you narrow down your choices so that you get the tripod that does the trick for you.

To me, tripods all look pretty much alike. I found it hard  to differentiate one from another, until a Vistek sales rep explained it to me in a way I could understand and to help me find the right one.
